Discussion Forum – Astrology vs Astronomy

Studying the stars and planets is Astronomy.

Astrology vs Astronomy is a topic covered in the bible but also has a thin line between them.  We read in Genesis:

14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. And God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
(Gen 1:14-19 NAS) (emphasis added)

But we also read in scripture not to worship the sun, moon and stars:

15 “So watch yourselves carefully, since you did not see any form on the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire, lest you act corruptly and make a graven image for yourselves in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky, the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water below the earth. “And beware, lest you lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
(Deu 4:15-19 NAS) (emphasis added)

What is Astrology and Astronmy?

According to Wikipedia:

Astrology comprises several systems of divination[1] based on the premise that there is a relationship between astronomical phenomena and events in the human world. In the West, astrology most often consists of a system of horoscopes that claim to explain aspects of a person’s personality and predict future events in their life based on the positions of the sun, moon, and other planetary objects at the time of their birth. Many cultures have attached importance to astronomical events, and the Indians, Chinese, and Mayans developed elaborate systems for predicting terrestrial events from celestial observations.

Astronomy is a natural science that is the study of celestial objects (such as moons, planets, stars, nebulae, and galaxies), the physics, chemistry, mathematics, and evolution of such objects, and phenomena that originate outside the atmosphere of Earth, including supernovae explosions, gamma ray bursts, and cosmic background radiation. A related but distinct subject, cosmology, is concerned with studying the universe as a whole.[1]

Discussion:

With this is mind, what is your opinion about Astrology and Astronomy? Are either allowed according to the Bible? If so, which is and which is not allowed? Are both wrong?

Please chime in on this subject in a friendly manner.

Romans 1:15-32. Nothing wrong with a study of the stars – astronomy – Astrology is the perversion of God’s message in the stars Psalm 19: The heavens declare the glory of God…..God left Signs & Wonders in Egypt! The Great Pyramid Isa.19:19-20 & The Sphinx! The Sphinx has the head of a Woman & the body of a Lion as a key to the circle of the stars! A SPHINX ius placed between VIRGO & LEO : : Start the message with the head of the woman VIRGO The Virgin & end the message with LEO the conquering LION of Judah ! Jesus Christ ! “PRAISE GOD”
Men thinking themselves to be wise changed the truth of this message from God into the lie that is astrology & worshipped the creature more than the creator! For this cause God turned them over to vile affections men with men & women with women! They refused to retain God in their memories!
Two books that I know of explain that message! God’s Message In The Stars by EW Bullenger & The Glory Of The Stars by E. Raymond Capt.
